*”I Dream,” the musical-drama and theater play about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King recently had its world premiere in Atlanta at the Alliance Stage at the Woodruff Arts Center under the direction of actress Jasmine Guy.
Originating the role of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., is Quentin Earl Darrington, fresh from recent Broadway success in the Tony-nominated revival of ‘Ragtime’. Acclaimed actress and singer Demetria McKinney, best known for her stellar performances in ‘Tyler Perry’s House of Payne’, won the role of Coretta after an extensive search.
Above and below are photos from opening night which was special because the King family was in attendance and signed the play’s showbills. (Learn more about the show here.)
